🕋 Story of Prophet Nuh (Noah) عليه السلام

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

📜 Introduction:

Prophet Nuh (AS) is one of the earliest prophets sent by Allah. He is among the Ulu’l Azm (the five greatest prophets) and preached monotheism for over 950 years. His story is mentioned extensively in the Quran and serves as a lesson of patience, obedience, and steadfast faith.

📖 Nuh (AS) in the Quran:

Allah says:

“Indeed, We sent Nuh to his people, [saying], ‘Warn your people before there comes to them a painful punishment.'”
(Surah Nuh 71:1)

🌍 Background:

After Prophet Adam (AS), as people multiplied, they began to worship idols. The names of the idols were Wadd, Suwa’, Yaghuth, Ya’uq, and Nasr. They were originally righteous men, but after their death, Shaitan misled people to worship their statues.

🗣️ Prophethood of Nuh (AS):

Allah chose Nuh (AS) to guide his people. He called them to Tawheed (Oneness of Allah) and warned them of a severe punishment if they continued idol worship.

“O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a tremendous Day.”
(Surah Al-A’raf 7:59)

But the leaders and majority rejected him. They mocked him and accused him of being a liar and madman.

🕰️ 950 Years of Da’wah (Preaching):

“And indeed We sent Nuh to his people, and he stayed among them a thousand years less fifty…”
(Surah Al-Ankabut 29:14)

Despite his efforts, very few believed — only around 80 people.

🌧️ Allah’s Command & The Great Flood:

Allah commanded Nuh (AS) to build an Ark (Ship):

“And construct the ship under Our observation and Our inspiration…”
(Surah Hud 11:37)

People laughed at him, building a ship on dry land. But Nuh (AS) continued, trusting Allah.

When the sign came – water gushed from the earth – Allah commanded him to:

  • Board the Ark with the believers
  • Take pairs of animals (male and female)

“…And We carried him on a [ship] of planks and nails.”
(Surah Al-Qamar 54:13)

💔 His Son & The Test:

One of Nuh’s sons refused to board the Ark, saying he would climb a mountain. Nuh (AS) pleaded:

“O my son, embark with us…”
(Surah Hud 11:42)

But the waves overtook him, and he was among the drowned.

Nuh (AS) was heartbroken but Allah reminded him that faith is not inherited — it must come from within.

☀️ After the Flood:

The floodwaters receded, and the Ark rested on Mount Judi.

“And it was said, ‘O earth, swallow your water, and O sky, withhold [your rain].’ … And the ship came to rest on Mount Judi…”
(Surah Hud 11:44)

Allah made Nuh (AS) the father of the next generations of mankind.

🌟 Moral Lessons from Prophet Nuh’s Story:

  1. Patience in Dawah: 950 years of continuous effort.
  2. Trust in Allah: Despite mockery, he followed Allah’s command.
  3. Faith is not inherited: Even a Prophet’s son may disbelieve.
  4. Obedience leads to salvation.
  5. Consequences of arrogance and disbelief.
