Here is a Khutbah (Islamic sermon) you can use for Eid al-Adha (Bakrid). It is structured in two parts, as is traditional for a khutbah, and includes Qur’anic verses, Ahadith, and key messages about the virtues of sacrifice, obedience, and unity.

📜 KHUTBAH EID AL-ADHA (BAKRID) – PART 1

Amma ba’du…

🕌 Main Khutbah (Part 1)
Dear brothers and sisters,

Today is a day of remembrance, a day of obedience, and a day of sacrifice – the blessed day of Eid al-Adha, also known as Bakrid.

Allah Subhanahu wa Ta‘ala says in the Qur’an:

“And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice.”
— [Surah As-Saffat 37:107]

This verse refers to the great test of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S) and his son Ismail (A.S). When Ibrahim (A.S.) saw in a dream that he was to sacrifice his beloved son, he submitted fully to the command of Allah, and his son also accepted this command without hesitation.

“He said: O my father! Do what you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, among the patient.”
— [Surah As-Saffat 37:102]

This event teaches us the true essence of sacrifice – not just in the form of animals but in our ego, desires, and love for this world, for the sake of pleasing Allah.

📿 Hadith
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

“There is nothing more beloved to Allah on the days of Eid al-Adha than the shedding of blood. The sacrificed animal will come on the Day of Judgment with its horns, hair, and hooves. The blood reaches Allah before it falls to the ground. So sacrifice with an open and happy heart.”
— [Sunan Ibn Majah, 3126]

So let us sacrifice not only animals, but also our sins, bad habits, arrogance, and selfishness. Let us revive the spirit of submission and taqwa (God-consciousness) in our lives.

📢 Message to the Ummah
This is also a day of sharing and caring. Remember:

1/3 of the meat is for your family.

1/3 is for relatives and friends.

1/3 is for the poor and needy.

This teaches us that Islam is not just about rituals, but also about social justice and community care.

📜 KHUTBAH PART 2

🕊️ Final Advice
Dear Muslims,

Let this Eid be a reminder that our lives, our wealth, and our time are all sacrifices for Allah. Just as Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) surrendered completely, we too must surrender our wills to Allah’s commands.

“It is not their meat or blood that reaches Allah, but your taqwa (piety).”
— [Surah Al-Hajj 22:37]

✨ Make Du’a (Supplication)

📣 Conclude with the Eid Takbir
