Family Responsibilities in Islam

1.⁠ ⁠Responsibilities of the Husband/Father:
Provision (Nafaqah): Responsible for providing food, shelter, clothing, education, and healthcare for his wife and children.

Protection: Safeguard the family physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Leadership: Serve as the moral and spiritual guide of the household with justice and kindness.

Kind Treatment: Treat the wife with love, mercy, and respect.

Education: Teach Islamic values and ensure children are raised with proper morals and faith.

📖 “Men are the protectors and maintainers of women…”
— Surah An-Nisa (4:34)

🔸 2. Responsibilities of the Wife/Mother:
Support and Obedience: Support the husband in his lawful leadership and fulfill mutual duties with love and cooperation.

Childcare and Upbringing: Play a key role in nurturing and teaching children, especially in their early development.

Managing the Home: Organize and manage household affairs efficiently.

Loyalty and Respect: Be loyal and respectful to the husband and maintain the dignity and honor of the family.

🔸 3. Responsibilities of Children:
Obedience: Listen to and respect parents, especially in their guidance and teachings.

Kindness and Gratitude: Treat parents kindly, especially in their old age.

Supplication: Pray for their well-being and forgiveness.

🔸 4. Responsibilities of Parents:
Islamic Upbringing: Teach children about Islam, prayer, character, and good manners.

Love and Compassion: Show unconditional love and ensure emotional support.

Fair Treatment: Treat all children fairly without favoritism.

Encourage Education: Provide both Islamic and worldly knowledge.

🔸 5. Responsibilities of Siblings:
Support Each Other: Help one another emotionally, financially, and spiritually.

Maintain Ties: Avoid severing ties and resolve disputes quickly.

Respect and Cooperation: Treat each other with respect regardless of age or status.
